The Novelics family of advanced embedded memories is the only complete set of memory solutions available in the marketplace today. Novelics offers solutions for every type of memory required by today’s complex SoC products. All of the Novelics products are fabricated using only the manufacturing process steps required for pure bulk CMOS fabrication. The widely patented circuit techniques that enable this breakthrough characteristic across the product line enables significant reduction in the silicon production costs compared to competitive approaches.

The Novelics memory solutions have been shown to regularly out-perform all competitors in the memory circuit IP marketplace on every axis on which performance is measured. Novelics is the only source in the world for technologies including embedded DRAM and OTP (One Time Programmable) and flash memories implement in pure bulk CMOS with no extra mask layers. The Novelics OTP is the only OTP in the world in which the programming of the bits can not be detected with an electron scanning microscope, an important feature for security keys). The Novelics OTP technology is also the first to be able to operate at processor speeds.

In addition to Novelics’ pervasive innovation in memory bit cells, circuit and system techniques, the company has pioneered a new approach to exploring the architectural solution space. The on-line MemQuest™ memory compiler environment allows the system architect to view a large number of possible design solutions for any given memory instance specification. The MemQuest environment then allows the architect to prioritize the performance parameters to exactly align with the optimal requirements of the instance. When the instance characteristics are optimized, the architect gives the command to generate the physical memory circuit. Everything required to tape out the chip is generated in a matter of minutes. MemQuest enables the concurrent optimization of power, speed, density, and DFM/DFT objectives. Whether an SoC requires embedded DRAM, standard SRAM, high-speed cache, a register file, ROM, flash, OTP (One Time Programmable), or CAM (Content Addressable Memory) memories, Novelics’ common memory compiler environment, MemQuest, is used by the customer to architect and generate high-performance memory instances optimized for the exact design requirements.. MemQuest automatically generates all the required industry-standard design files and supporting documentation.

coolSRAM-1T™

With the introduction of its coolSRAM-1T memory, Novelics has made embedded DRAM memory incorporation possible for the first time in pure bulk CMOS processes - with no extra process or manufacturing steps. This first-in-the-industry capability is based on new patented bit cell and circuit techniques that together offer a truly new approach to embedded DRAM functionality.

coolSRAM-6T™

Novelics’ coolSRAM-6T embedded memory is ideal for applications requiring high speed at the lowest possible power consumption. With its proprietary technology, coolSRAM-6T can reduce leakage current by a factor of 10, as well as provide substantial reductions in active power and area. Embedded coolSRAM-6T blocks can be configured for complex ASIC, SoC, and ASSP designs.

coolREG™

Novelics’ coolREG products support synchronous single-port, two-port and dual-port register files. These dense memories let the designer specify the exact word and bit counts for each specific register file to meet the application’s need. Embedded coolREG blocks include low-power, high-speed, and high-density-configurable register files targeting the most demanding SoC, ASIC and ASSP applications.

coolROM™

Novelics’ coolROM is the densest ROM in the industry by a factor of 2. It is a single-layer programmable ROM. The Novelics ROM is also the lowest power ROM in the industry both in active power and in standby mode.

coolOTP™

Novelics’ coolOTP is the world’s only full-speed readable, one-time-programmable memory available in pure bulk CMOS. It is commonly used in microcontrollers in the automotive industry. It is also widely used in embedded keys used for encryption and digital rights management in such products as smart cards, cell phones, set-top boxes and portable media players.

coolCAM™

Novelics’ coolCAM moves content-addressable memory from power-hungry super-chips to ordinary embedded SoC applications that can benefit from high-performance search. Content-Addressable Memory (CAM) is a great way to make short work of large searches. Simply present the required data to a CAM macro, and it will return the address or even perform a linked table lookup in a single cycle.
